Faith, Hope and Carnage
By Nick Cave and Seán O'Hagan, published in 2022
Rating: (5 stars out of 5)
When Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds came out with the album Murder Ballads (that I probably read about in the paper edition of Rolling Stone, lol) I bought it and I loved it. My brother Rob explored Cave’s work in even more depth and I would say he’s a bona fide fan of the music where I am more a fan of the writer and thinker Nick Cave. Not that his music isn’t great but my music taste tends to be more pedestrian and kind of boring while Rob is much more expansive.
Having said that, I adored this book. It’s an ongoing conversation about grief, chiefly around the death of Cave’s teenage son. This book is a gift on its own but it led me to his blog, The Red Hand Files, which I also love.
