This is a book in the surprisingly fertile genre I would classify as “police procedural but spooky and magical” sort of like Broadchurch meets Harry Potter. There are only 3 books in this series. I still don’t understand the point of making Neil Gaiman, the author, a character in the book (with permission as we are reminded). It was weird when I read it originally and now, after the allegations against him, downright unpleasant.
